Critical Warning: Not All Bottom Paint Is Safe on Transducer Faces
Standard copper-based antifouling bottom paint chemically interferes with sonar signals — applying it directly to a transducer face degrades or destroys sonar performance. The safe options are: (1) foul-release coatings like Prop Speed, (2) water-based antifouling paints specifically labeled as transducer-safe, or (3) no coating on the transducer face with regular physical cleaning. Apply standard bottom paint only to the hull immediately around the transducer, not on the transducer itself.
