Mapping C-MAP

C-MAP is a major marine cartography provider offering detailed charts for coastal, offshore, and inland waters. Now part of the Navico group alongside Lowrance, Simrad, and B&G, C-MAP has become the primary mapping platform integrated into Lowrance fish finders, though their charts are also compatible with select models from other brands.

C-MAP products include Reveal charts with high-resolution bathymetric data, shaded relief, custom depth shading, and detailed coastal cartography. Inland coverage includes lake charts with depth contours, points of interest, and navigational data. C-MAP Reveal has steadily expanded its inland lake coverage to compete with Navionics and LakeMaster in the freshwater fishing market.

C-MAP Genesis is the community mapping platform similar to Navionics SonarChart. Anglers contribute sonar log data that is processed into crowd-sourced bathymetric maps. Genesis data supplements official survey charts and provides coverage for waters that commercial mapping may not include. The genesis maps are accessible through compatible Lowrance and Simrad displays.

For Lowrance users, C-MAP offers the most seamless integration with their fish finder's mapping features, including C-MAP Easy Routing for automated navigation path planning. However, most Lowrance units also support Navionics charts, giving anglers the option to compare both mapping platforms and choose the one that provides better coverage and detail for their specific fishing waters.
