Installation RAM Mount

RAM Mount is a brand of modular ball-and-socket mounting system widely used in the marine industry for mounting fish finders, GPS units, phones, cameras, and other electronics on boats, kayaks, and vehicles. The system uses interchangeable components — base plates, arms of various lengths, and device-specific cradles — connected by rubber-coated ball joints that allow infinite adjustability and vibration dampening.

The RAM Mount system is particularly popular with kayak anglers because it provides a secure, adjustable, and removable mounting solution without requiring permanent modifications to the kayak. A RAM ball base can be attached to a track rail, suction cup, or flat surface, and the fish finder cradle connects via an adjustable arm that allows positioning for optimal viewing from any seated angle.

RAM Mount components are identified by ball size. The most common sizes are 1-inch (B-size) for lighter devices like phones and small GPS units, and 1.5-inch (C-size) for heavier equipment like fish finders and tablets. Matching the correct ball size to your device weight ensures a secure hold. Overtaxing a smaller ball with a heavy fish finder leads to drooping and vibration issues.

Beyond kayaks, RAM Mounts are used on bass boats for bow-mounted fish finders, on pontoon boats where traditional dash mounting is impractical, and in any situation where you need to position a fish finder in a location that does not have a convenient flat mounting surface.
