Transducer Placement on a Pontoon
The main outboard's prop wash directly behind a pontoon creates interference for transom-mounted transducers. Better options: mount the transducer on the trolling motor shaft (if the pontoon has one), use a shoot-through-hull mount inside one of the aluminum tubes (aluminum is NOT suitable for shoot-through — use only through-tube transducers designed for aluminum), or use a mounting bracket that positions the transducer ahead of the main outboard's turbulence zone on one of the tubes.
