The Core Problem
Transducer connectors are not standardized across brands or even within brands across generations. A Garmin transducer with an 8-pin connector won't directly connect to a Humminbird unit with a 10-pin connector — even if both are CHIRP transducers doing the same job. The electrical specifications might be compatible, but the physical connector is not.
Pin Count and Connector Types by Brand
- Garmin: 4-pin (older Striker units, basic models), 8-pin (current ECHOMAP and GPSMAP with GT transducers), 12-pin (older GPSMAP 700–900 series), Garmin Force trolling motor proprietary
